Overview
Colby-Sawyer College wanted a custom label design for their maple syrup, a locally made product that embodies both New England tradition and the college’s strong community identity. The goal was to create packaging that felt authentic, memorable, and directly tied to the college’s heritage.

Concept & Design Approach

Illustrative imagery of a traditional sugarhouse gives the label a nostalgic, artisanal feel while grounding it in local authenticity.

Classic typography balances elegance and readability, reinforcing the product’s handcrafted quality.

Circular framing keeps the design contained and cohesive, ensuring it works well on the curved surface of the glass bottle.

School identity is reinforced through the inclusion of Colby-Sawyer’s name and location, connecting the product directly to the college’s brand.

The final design achieved a balance of tradition and brand identity, making the syrup both a functional product and a keepsake that represents the college’s culture. By combining hand-drawn illustration with clean typography, the label conveys authenticity, craftsmanship, and pride — qualities that reflect both the syrup-making process and the college itself.
